Woman, 30, is injured in car crash

A 30-year-old Westminster woman was trapped in her car after the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole at Pennsylvania Avenue and Sullivan Road early yesterday morning, police said.

Teresa Lynn Landis of Gist Road was admitted to the Carroll County General Hospital in serious but stable condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

City police said Ms. Landis was driving southbound on Pennsylvania Avenue in a 1987 Hyundai Excel around 5:40 a.m. when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a no parking sign before crashing into the pole.

Fire and rescue workers were able to extricate the victim from her car in about 20 minutes before taking her to the hospital.

Cpl. Dave Hooper, the investigating officer, said charges are pending.
