Calvert Hall pushes streak to 36 games, 4-0

Top-ranked Calvert Hall scored three goals in the first half and extended its unbeaten streak to 36 games with a 4-0 soccer win yesterday over St. Paul's. Senior midfielder Michael Lance led the Cardinals (1-0-1) with a goal and two assists.

* Cardinal Gibbons 1, Mount St. Joseph 0: Steve Wojciechowski headed in the game's only goal 10 minutes into the second half to lead the Crusaders (2-1, 1-1) past the 12th-ranked Gaels (0-3, 0-1).

* Loyola 3, Gilman 1: Scott Diggs, Jason Rickel and Mike O'Neill scored to give the Dons (1-2, 1-0) the win over Gilman (1-2, 0-1) for their first MSA A Conference victory of the season.

* Southern-AA 5, Surrattsville 2: Brad Leahy's two goals started a five-goal outburst in the first half as Southern-AA downed host Surrattsville.

* Patterson 2, Southern-Balto. 0: Steve Rappas recorded 12 saves in leading Patterson past Southern of Baltimore.

* Poly 13, Mervo 1: John Lewkiewicz had five goals and an assist in one half as Poly easily handled host Mervo.

* Joppatowne 1, Aberdeen 0: Mike Brown scored 24 minutes, 45 seconds into the second half off a pass from Andy Kippenberger to lift Joppatowne over Aberdeen in a Harford County League game.

* Friends 2, Spalding 0: Sean Armstrong's first-half score led 13th-ranked Friends (4-1) over Spalding.

* Curley 3, North Harford 1: Ryan Hax and Guiliano Celenza scored first-half goals to lead No. 3 Curley over North Harford.

Field hockey

* South Carroll 2, Frederick 0: Tracie DiDio and Katie Rockwell scored to lead host South Carroll (2-0) past Frederick.

* Joppatowne 1, Aberdeen 0: Krissy Poist scored the game-winning goal 12 minutes into the second half off an assist by Jackie Bass.

Girls soccer

* Western 4, Lake Clifton 1: Kerri Harman was involved in all of Western's scoring with two goals and two assists as Western (1-0) defeated Lake Clifton in the season-opener for both teams. Heather Braswell scored the other two Western goals.

* North Harford 9, Havre de Grace 1: Danielle Konschak scored three goals as North Harford defeated Havre de Grace in a Harford County League game.

* Joppatowne 5, Aberdeen 2: Joppatowne scored three second-half goals to beat Aberdeen in a Harford County League game. Lora Harkins scored two second-half goals for Joppatowne.
