D.C. wins in MSGA match play

Washington had a winning edge in five of the six matches and routed Baltimore, 13-5, in their annual Maryland State Golf Association team match at Bonnie View Country Club yesterday.

Despite the lopsided margin, most of the pairings were close enough to be decided by one hole on either or both sides.

Larry Storck-Johnny Boston had the best Baltimore showing, winning three points from Bobby Crane-Tom Winegarden. Boston parred the ninth hole to win that nine, and birdied the 10th to get the team going on that side and they won that one, 2-up.

The Baltimore Seniors entry of Charlie Harris-Jackie Rites won the back nine, 1-up, for a point, but lost the front (3-up) and the match.

Washington got a pair of 3-0 wins from Ben Brundred III-Terry Burke, and Jim Castagna-Shane Patterson. Brundred's side rallied from 2-down after No. 5 to win the front, and he birdied the 13th to give himself and Burke a winning margin.
