Westminster man held in theft of guns, car

A 19-year-old Westminster man is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond in the theft of five handguns and a 1988 Chevrolet Beretta from a Union Bridge couple in March.

Adam Wilson Bankart of the 1600 block of Pinch Valley Road was charged with conspiring with Leland Taylor Barksdale 3rd to steal the property of Mr. Barksdale's mother and stepfather on March 17.

State police said Mr. Barksdale was arrested in Pickens County, S.C., on March 21 on unrelated charges and confessed to the theft.

Mr. Bankart is charged with stealing the five handguns, valued at $1,950, from Sean Lee MacDermott, theft of the car from Novella Mae MacDermott, and conspiring with Mr. Barksdale to steal the guns and the car.
