Gunman sought in robbery at Rite Aid

Howard County police are investigating the robbery of an Ellicott City drug store Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery occurred just before 4 p.m. at the Rite Aid Pharmacy in the Normandy Shopping Center in the 8400 block of Baltimore National Pike. Police said a man displayed a handgun and ordered the manager to open the safe. When the manager turned over an undisclosed sum, the man told him to walk to the rear of the store and then ran away.

The robber is described as a black male, about 30, wearing dark glasses, a tan and blue plaid shirt, tan pants and a green baseball cap.

*Ellicott City: 3200 block of Bethany Lane: Computer equipment was stolen from two professional offices after someone broke through a rear window Saturday or Sunday.

9000 block of Route 40: Someone broke into an office building Friday or Saturday, but nothing was reported taken, police said.

3600 block of Park Ave: A safe was stolen from a business last Thursday or Friday, but there were no signs of forced entry, police said.

8400 block of Route 40: Cash was stolen from a soda machine last Thursday or Friday after someone broke into an office building.
