Fire company to get $275,000 county loan

The Carroll County commissioners voted yesterday to make a low-interest loan to the Manchester Volunteer Fire Company for a $275,000 pumper engine.

The county will sell bonds to finance the loan, Comptroller Eugene C. Curfman said.

The interest rate probably would be between 5 percent and 6 percent, he said.

The county has lent money to more than half of its volunteer fire companies, Mr. Curfman said.
