Cable comedian to appear at performing arts club

Comedian Richard Jeni, host of the cable TV show "Arts and Entertainment at Caroline's," will appear at the newly opened The Performing Arts of Laurel at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday .

The Performing Arts of Laurel is at 312 Main St., the former home of Petrucci's Dinner Theatre. The new comedy club is run by Barbara Malhotra whose husband owns the Comedy Connection Greenbelt.

Several cable TV comedians are scheduled to make stops at the club this fall. They include Judy Tenuta on Sept. 24 and 25 and Rich Little Nov. 16-18.

Plans are in place to bring legendary country singer Johnny Cash to The Performing Arts in December.

Tickets for Richard Jeni are $17.50 for the 7:30 performance and $20 for the 10 p.m. show.


Savage:8300 block of Perri Drive: Someone broke into a vacant rental townhouse Wednesday or Thursday by prying open a rear glass door. Nothing was taken, but debris -- including beer cans -- was left inside, police said.
