Woman, 27, is abducted and raped

A 27-year-old Columbia woman was abducted at the Long Reach Village Center and raped on Old Montgomery Road early Saturday, Howard County police said.

The woman was using a pay phone at the village center when a man approached her from behind, choked her and hit her in the face about 2:30 a.m., according to police.

The man put her in the trunk of her car, drove her to a secluded area on Old Montgomery Road and raped her. He then fled in her car.

She was treated for scrapes and bruises at Howard County General Hospital and released. Police found her car on Airy Brink Lane in Columbia.
