Calvert Hall rallies past Perry Hall, 17-13

Chris Nohe scored on a 6-yard run with 7:02 left to give No. 13 Calvert Hall a come-from-behind 17-13 win over visiting No. 10 Perry Hall in their opener yesterday.

Nohe gained 102 yards on 10 carries, including a 59-yard cross-field run in the third quarter that set up a field goal. Kevin Tyler (58) and Mike Callahan (45) also helped as Calvert Hall rolled up 245 rushing yards.

Lack of a strong ground game hurt Perry Hall as the Gators finished with only 34 yards rushing.

Severn 34, John Carroll 6

John Vereen and Fred Macaraeg scored two touchdowns each to lead a dominating Severn running attack past John Carroll (0-1) at Severn.

Vereen, a junior, rushed for 225 yards on 26 carries and Macaraeg had 13 rushes for 123 yards. The Admirals (1-0) rushed for 413 yards and had 444 total yards.

Towson 36, Dulaney 7

Tex DeLeon rushed for 140 yards on 14 carries and scored three touchdowns as the host Generals (1-0) defeated archrival Dulaney (0-1) in a non-league game.

Woodlawn 14, Westminster 12

Keion Carpenter ran 53 yards for a touchdown with 5:48 remaining and Anthony Reid ran in for the two-point conversion, lifting Woodlawn (1-0) past host Westminster (0-1).

Aberdeen 26, Pikesville 6

Nick Johnson ran for touchdowns of 35 and 5 yards as Aberdeen (1-0) defeated host Pikesville (0-1).

Lonnie Bishop ran for 105 yards on 12 carries for Pikesville.

Good Counsel 28, Mount St. Joseph 18

Eddie Pailen rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown for Mount St. Joseph, but it wasn't enough as the Gaels (0-1) lost their opener to visiting Good Counsel (1-0).

Lackey 12, South River 7

South River senior running back Craig Hopkins scored the Seahawks' only touchdown in the fourth quarter as South River (0-1) lost to host Lackey (1-0).
