SHOWS

Through Sept. 26: Chesapeake Changes, a natural history exhibit that focuses on the geology, geography, wildlife and human settlement in the 64,000 square mile watershed of the bay, Explorers Hall of the National Geographic Society, 17th and streets NW, Washington, D.C.

Sept. 11-12: Gun and Knife Show sponsored by the Camrod Hunting Club, Agriculture Center, Westminster, 9 a.m. each day. 250 trade tables. Admission is $4 with children under 12 admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

FISHING

Wednesday: Monthly meeting of the Free State Fly Fishers, Hillsmere Elementary School, Annapolis, 7:30 p.m. Program will be a fly-tying clinic by Herb and Kathy Weigal of Cold Spring Anglers, with an emphasis on flies that will work in the Carlisle, Pa., area. The public is welcome.

Sept. 12: Maryland B.A.S.S. Federation Tournament Trail event at Deep Creek Lake.

Sept. 19: Maryland B.A.S.S. Federation Junior team championship on the upper Potomac River.

HUNTING/SHOOTING

Wednesday, Friday, Sept. 12: Maryland State Bowhunters Education course at Howard County Fairgrounds. Preregistration and fee required.

Sept. 11: General George G. Meade Chapter of Ducks Unlimited's annual auction and dinner, Odenton Volunteer Fire Department Hall, Route 175, 6 p.m. Tickets are $40. For more information, call (301) 854-2742.

Sept. 17: Maryland Pro Sports Chapter of Ducks Unlimited annual dinner auction at the Camden Club, 5 p.m. Stadium tour, dinner and live auction.

Sept. 14: Registration for basic boating class taught by Patapsco River Power Squadron, Old Mill High School, 600 Old Mill Road, Glen Burnie, 7 p.m. The course will run 10 weeks.

Sept. 15: Registration for safe boating and coastal navigation courses offered by the Pasadena Flotilla of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Pikesville Senior High School, 7621 Labyrinth Road, 7:30 p.m. 10-week course on consecutive Monday nights beginning Sept. 20.
