2-year-old killed in two-car crash

A 2-year-old girl was killed yesterday after the car in which she was a passenger was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Route 213 near Wye Mills in Queen Anne's County, Maryland State Police reported.

Shirell Lavenya Duckery of Marydel was taken to Memorial Hospital at Easton, where she was pronounced dead after the 1:45 p.m. accident. She had been in a child safety seat, police said.

According to investigators, the car, driven by the child's mother, Casandra Lavern Duckery, 20, was westbound on U.S. 50 and was turning onto Route 213 when it was struck by a Chevy Blazer.

Police said Mrs. Duckery failed to grant the right of way.
