Firefighters ready to show crafts, antiques Taneytown exhibit to be held Saturday NORTHWEST -- Taneytown * Union Bridge * New Windsor * Uniontown

The Taneytown Fire Company will hold its 21st annual antique, collectibles, arts and crafts show Saturday at the company's carnival grounds on Memorial Drive.

A breakfast of sausage, eggs, home fries, hominy, juice and coffee will begin the day at 5 a.m. in the Activities Building, and will end at 11 a.m.

Tickets for the breakfast are $4 and may be purchased at the door.

Hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks will be served beginning at 11 a.m. on the carnival grounds.

More than 100 vendors of antiques -- including glass, tools, furniture, political buttons, coins, toys, flea market items, baseball cards, postcards, Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola products -- jTC and arts and crafts dealers will sell their wares from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All proceeds from the meals and space rentals will help pay for the rebuilding of a fire engine.

This is one of the major fund-raisers the fire company has during the year to support its volunteer efforts.

Spaces for the show are still available. Each space is 18 feet by 22 feet.

Attention Barney lovers: Barney will visit Taneytown Video from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday to celebrate the store's 10th anniversary. He will have free gifts for children under age 10.

Zinn's Service Center will offer a free 3-by-5-inch, 35mm picture of your child with Barney. The pictures will be developed in glossy finish and will be available for pickup Sept. 8. Additional copies may be purchased.

During the storewide sale, with every purchase of a Barney tape, your child will receive a Barney figure. Coupons for courtesy pizza for children will be provided by Carlo's Pizza. Discount coupons from Taneytown Video will be placed inside rentals for future rentals and purchases.

The Rev. Bob Kepplinger invites area residents to bring lawn chairs and listen to the Christian music of "Witness" at Linwood ++ Brethren Church on Sunday.

The Hanover, Pa., group will "present the love of God through original work and song, along with familiar favorites" through instrumental and vocal pieces at the outdoor Labor Day service.

The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. at 575 McKinstry's Mill Road, Linwood.

Have a hearty appetite? Then come to the Harney fire hall Saturday ready to eat. The Harney Fire Co. is holding an all-you-can-eat shrimp and chicken dinner with all the trimmings from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the fire hall, 5130 Harney Road.

Advance tickets are $15.

Proceeds from the shrimp feast will be used to buy and maintain the company's fire equipment.
