Mutual funds' cash flow hits record

A surge of money into bond funds helped the flow of cash into the nation's mutual funds swell to record levels in July, according to industry figures released yesterday.

The Investment Company Institute reported that the net amount of cash that flowed into long-term funds hit $25.1 billion last month, up from $23.7 billion in June. Of the total, $14.9 billion went into bond and income funds.
