HAGERSTOWN -- John Kopsey's two-run triple highlighted a three-run fifth inning as the Spartansburg Phillies defeated the Hagerstown Suns, 6-3, in a South Atlantic League game yesterday.

The Phillies (33-32) opened the scoring with a run in the second on a single by Scott Haws. The Suns (36-39) tied it in the bottom of the inning on a RBI single by Mike Coolbaugh, which scored D. J. Boston.

Spartansburg took advantage of a wild pitch and an error by Hagerstown to put across a run for a 2-1 lead in the fourth. The Phillies then scored three times in the fifth and again in the ninth. Lonnell Roberts had a two-run single in the ninth for the Suns.
