3 sought in Shell Mini Mart robbery

Howard County police are looking for three men who robbed a convenience store in Ellicott City early Friday morning.

The bandits took about 40 cartons of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash from the Shell Mini Mart in the 8500 block of Baltimore National Pike. No injuries were reported, police said.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday morning, two men entered the store and asked the clerk for a package of cigarettes, police said.

While the clerk was reaching for the cigarettes, one of the men pulled a handgun and announced the robbery, police said.

Once the second man walked around the counter and took cash from the register, the two forced the clerk into a back room.

A third robber entered the store and helped the other two carry off more than $800 worth of cigarettes, police said.

The first robber, who carried a handgun, was described as a black male, about 20 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. He wore a black shirt and brown shorts.

The second robber was a black male, in his late 20s, 6 feet 1 inctall and weighing 185 pounds. He wore a white flowered shirt, brown pants and sunglasses at the time of the robbery.

The man who helped carry the cigarettes was described as about 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds.

He wore a white shirt, police said.
