Five-run fifth lifts Generals over Suns

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Corey Parker led a five-run fifth inning with a two-run double as the Fayetteville Generals defeated the Hagerstown Suns, 8-4, in a Single-A South Atlantic League game last night.

Fayetteville got four hits from Parker, an RBI double from Pete Feeley and RBI singles from Tim Thomas and Roberto Rojas for a 5-1 advantage.

Winner Blas Cedeno (5-5) went 5 2/3 innings and gave up five hits and two runs. Loser Brad Cornett (9-7) pitched five innings and gave up eight hits and five runs.

Fayetteville (33-26) split the two-game series, but Hagerstown (35-25) won the season series, 12-4.
