Donations sought for flea market

The Providence Center needs donations for its flea market and bake sale Saturday at the Harbour Center's patio on Solomons Island Road.

The deadline for donations is tomorrow. Donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Baldwin Industries, 1254 Ritchie Highway in Arnold. The event is from noon to 4 p.m. The Salvation Army will sell hot dogs and sodas.

The event will kick off the United Way Campaign, with proceeds benefiting groups in the county that receive United Way funding.

Air tank bursts, injures man, 46

A 46-year-old man was injured Thursday when an air tank exploded and pieces of debris hit him in the face, county police reported.

Charles Blickenstaff of the 1100 block of Broadview Drive was filling the tank at 1 p.m. at the Annapolis Scuba Center in the first block of Hudson Street when it burst.

Mr. Blickenstaff was in fair but stable condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Stores and restaurants vandalized with graffiti

The walls and doors of seven businesses in Parole Plaza and Forest Plaza were spray-painted with graffiti Thursday morning, county police reported.

Police said the stores and restaurants -- the Outback restaurant, Annapolis Lighting, the Rite Aid drugstore, Rickey's TV and Audio-Video Center, the News Center, Magruder's Grocery and Orthodontic Specialists -- were vandalized between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.


* Edgewater: Burglars stole a television and other property valued at $500 from a home in the 100 block of Cardamon Drive between 8 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Thursday.
