SHOWS

Through Sept. 26: Chesapeake Changes, a natural history exhibit that focuses on the geology, geography, wildlife and human settlement in the 64,000-square mile watershed of the bay, Explorers Hall of the National Geographic Society, 17 and M streets NW, Washington.

Sept. 4, 5 and 6: Southern Maryland Wildlife Festival to benefit the Ruffed Grouse Society and Maryland Quail Unlimited, The Pavilion, Indian Head. Auctions, sporting clays competitions and crab feasts. Festival opens at 10 a.m. each day. Call (301) 870-6570.

Sept. 3-5: White Marlin Tournament sponsored by the Ocean City Marlin Club. Call (410) 289-6363.

Sept. 8: Monthly meeting of the Free State Fly Fishers, Hillsmere Elementary School, Annapolis, 7:30 p.m. Program will be fly-tying clinic by Herb and Kathy Weigal of Cold Spring Anglers, with an emphasis on flies that will work in the Carlisle, Pa., area. The public is welcome.

Sept. 12: Maryland B.A.S.S. Federation Tournament Trail event at Deep Creek Lake.

Sept. 19: Maryland B.A.S.S. Federation Junior team championship on the upper Potomac River.

Oct. 9-10: Maryland B.A.S.S. Federation Classic, site to be determined.

Monday: DNR public hearing on proposed waterfowl regulations for 1993-94, West Frederick Middle School, 515 W. Patrick St., Frederick, 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Thursday and Aug. 29: Maryland State Bowhunters Education course at Howard County Fairgrounds. Preregistration and fee required. Call (410) 461-3007.

Wednesday, Saturday: Hunter safety education course at the Howard County Fairgrounds. Wednesday, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Preregistration required, $2 fee and limit of 60 students. Call (410) 549-4963.
