DICK and LINDA BERTRAND of Edgewater serve as foster parents, and volunteer at Bethany Christian Services in Crofton, where they help with fund-raisers, and organize and distribute clothing donations and other items for birth mothers.

Volunteers' comments: Mrs. Bertrand says that she has "loved every minute" of her work at Bethany. As foster parents, we try to be ready just about any time to take a child.

"Bethany works in a network with other agencies and area churches in helping to provide the needs of birth mothers."

Mr. Bertrand, the recently elected chairman of Bethany's board of directors, spoke highly of the organization's workers.

"We're real proud of everyone; everyone does a great job," he said. "It's a group of people doing good things. We're working very hard to increase public awareness of our services."
