Water bills to rise after record usage

The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works has reported that a record amount of water was distributed in July and that higher water bills will be received by customers countywide.

More than 1.2 billion gallons of water was distributed, a record amount attributed to the dry summer.

Public Works is reminding customers of water conservation tips: Water gardens in the early morning and late evening; don't water on windy days; water only when the grass and plants need it; water slowly and deeply; keep the grass about 2 inches high; mulch to conserve soil moisture; give priority to expensive trees and shrubs.
