Hampstead may 'adopt' town hit by floods

The Hampstead Town Council has voted to explore the possibility of "adopting" a Midwestern town stricken by the floods.

Resident Bonni Crispin, who suggested that Hampstead adopt a town, was appointed chairwoman of the project committee.

The council voted to give the committee $150 and might increase the donation later.

Ms. Crispin said this week she did had not yet identified a town to adopt. She said she had tried to locate a town called Hampstead, "but there weren't any."

She said she will be looking for places to store donations, youth groups that may want to help, and donations of materials and money.

People interested in helping with the project may contact Ms. Crispin at 374-4969.
