Gas station clerk ducks and foils would-be robber

County police are looking for a man with a handgun who tried to rob a gasoline station early yesterday in Owen Brown.

Police say the man approached the clerk at the Mobil station in the 7200 block of Cradlerock Drive at 12:30 a.m., displayed a gun and demanded cash. Protected by glass and a locked door, the clerk ducked under the counter and the man ran away.

The gunman was described as a black male with short hair, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds, wearing a blue baseball hat, blue T-shirt, blue jeans and a blue bandanna.

* Kings Contrivance: 9500 block of Linville Ave.: A burglar tried to pry open a window and a sliding glass door overnight Tuesday. The burglar also pried off a shed lock but took nothing from the shed.

* Oakland Mills: 6800 block of Oakland Mills Road.: Someone pried the side door of a sanctuary at Christ Church overnight Tuesday. Nothing was taken.
