Two firefighters injured battling house blaze

Firefighters from the Winfield, Mount Airy and New Windsor companies were dispatched to a house fire in the 4300 block of Ridge Road, near Liberty Road, at 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

Two firefighters were injured while battling the blaze, which caused about $50,000 damage to the building. Thurston Wagner, owner of the house as well as Wagner's Corner, a restaurant and Exxon service station at the intersection of Route 27 and Route 26, was at the restaurant when the fire was discovered.

One of the injured men was treated for heat exhaustion at Carroll County General Hospital. The second was treated at the scene for a minor injury.

Units were out for three hours.

FIRE

* Mount Airy: Equipment from the Mount Airy station put out a tree fire on Runkles Road after being notified at 10:37 a.m. yesterday. Units were out about an hour.

* Mount Airy: Engines from the Mount Airy and Harney companies assisted Frederick County in battling a silo fire on Glissons Mill Road at 2:26 p.m. Saturday. Units were out for more than four hours.
