Employees at pizzeria add to scholarship fund

A scholarship fund established in memory of a Liberty High student is $2,000 richer thanks to Domino's Pizza in Eldersburg.

Employees donated a day's worth of tips and Domino's added $1 for each pizza sold Wednesday to a fund honoring Anthony Omelio.

The 17-year-old was killed in a car accident Aug. 7. His parents established the fund at the school where their son would have been a senior next month.

"We had a major turnout," said Mark Hundertmark, manager of the Liberty Road carryout and delivery shop. "We were slam busy all day."

Mr. Hundertmark helped organize the event and advertised the drive with about 7,000 fliers circulated in the Eldersburg area.

Normal Wednesday sales are about $1,000, he said. On the collection day, the shop sold $2,200, or about 300 pizzas.

Four scheduled drivers donated their tips. The shop also collected contributions from walk-in patrons.
