Nine Roland Park Country School students were inducted into the Cum Laude Society. They are Melissa Irene Ladenson of Roland Park, Colleen Catherine McCormick of Columbia and Anne Beaufort Zink of Woodbrook, all seniors; Koren Larissa Bell of Mount Washington, Margaret Harris Boutilier of Rodgers Forge, Melissa McClarigan Cully and Lisa Kent DiLonardo of Towson, Meghan Shriver Donnelly of Owings Mills and Brent Hall McCallister of Armaugh Village, all juniors.

* Villa Julie College presented the"VJ Pin," the college's highest honor for academic and leadership achievement, to the following students: Joanne Benzing, Rachel Ellis, Joseph Merenda, Amanda Richards, Jean Simmons and Tishon Watson.

Georgina George Ferrandi of Baltimore, a student at Virginia Commonwealth University, has been selected as a 1993 Liquitex Excellence in Art grant recipient.

Maurice W. Talbot of Columbia, a student at the University of Massachusetts, has been elected to membership in Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Jangar McGill, a junior at Notre Dame Preparatory School, has been awarded one of five Johns Hopkins University summer research apprenticeships for minority high school students.

Amy Pfeiffer, a student at Mount de Sales Academy, was one of finalists in the 58th annual Harold Harding Memorial Maritime Essay Contest, sponsored by the Propeller Club of the United States.

Owen Keith Mendez of Severn received the John Eric Ruppersberger Memorial Scholarship at Essex Community College.

Col. Kent D. Menser, retiring garrison commander at Fort George Meade, is the 1993 recipient of the President's Community Service Award at Anne Arundel Community College.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Kucera Sr. of Millersville recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a luncheon reception at the Hunt Valley Inn given by their children and grandchildren.
