Terps veterans open practice

August 14, 1993|By Paul McMullen

About 65 veterans will participate in their first preseason practice at Maryland today. Coach Mark Duffner said all players who underwent physical examinations Thursday were cleared to practice.

Linebacker Mike Gillespie, a transfer from Georgia Tech, hurt a knee in conditioning tests Thursday, and there are other assorted injuries.

"We're a lot happier with where we are today than where we were 365 days ago," said Duffner, who was 3-8 in his first season at Maryland.

The Terps open Sept. 4 against Virginia at Byrd Stadium. Tickets for all home games will be on sale today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cole Field House ticket office.
