ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Wes Lovell and Jessica Fernandez gave Baltimore-area entries a sweep of the major titles in the annual Nordlinger Cup Junior tournament at Mount Vernon Country Club yesterday.

Lovell, from Cockeysville and Hunt Valley Golf Club, turned in a 3-over-par 36-37--73 in the boys division, and Fernandez, from Baltimore and Sparrows Point Country Club, topped the girls division, 48-44--92.

Baltimore teen-agers also collected two age-group titles from a field of 37 boys and eight girls in championships sponsored and conducted by the Middle Atlantic PGA over the 6,000-yard, par-70 course.

Bart DeLuca, 13, out of Rolling Road Golf Club, won the 11-13 boys class with 41-41--82, and Stacey Pusin, from the Suburban Club, was low in the girls flight behind the overall champion, 51-43--94.

Lovell, 15, a Boys' Latin sophomore, had four bogeys when he missed greens, then rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt at the 17th green.

Fernandez, a sophomore at Mount Carmel High School, has been playing a relatively short time, yet had enough composure to keep her game together while her three playing companions were shooting 112, 120, and 149, respectively.

DeLuca, 13 tomorrow, was three shots behind leader Kenny Doerrer of Mitchellville after the 12th hole.

But he played the last six in 1-over-par, winning the 16th and 17th to forge a one-stroke margin of victory.
