Winfield chief appointed deputy state fire marshal
Tim Warner, chief of the Winfield Volunteer Fire Co., has been appointed deputy state fire marshal and assigned to Frederick County. His responsibilities there will include investigating fires and conducting building inspections.
He will attend the Western Maryland Police Academy later this year.
Chief Warner, 33, of Taylorsville, began his volunteer career as a junior firefighter at the age of 16. He quickly rose to firefighter, became a lieutenant at age 19, was promoted to assistant chief two years later and became chief of the department six years after that, in 1987.
He currently is vice president of the Carroll County Firemen's Association, and works in a family-owned construction business.
