Man is robbed in car after helping woman

Three South County residents were arrested early yesterday in connection with the robbery of a 63-year-old Prince George's County man in the parking lot of a Deale liquor store.

Police said the victim, Ronald E. Nichols of Mitchellville, gave a ride to Robin Elizabeth Robb, 31, of the 1700 block of Crownsville Road near Annapolis, from the Swamp Circle Saloon. They drove to several locations before Ms. Robb told Mr. Nichols that she wanted to make a call from the pay phone at Parks Liquors, Route 258 and Swamp Circle Road.

As they pulled into the lot, a white Ford pickup truck with two men pulled in behind them. The men allegedly approached Mr. Nichols' car, kicked in some of his car windows, threatened him with a knife, and demanded his wallet, which he handed over.

Mr. Nichols flagged down a police officer, who located the pickup truck, pulled it over and arrested three people. Charged with armed robbery and destruction of property, along with Ms. Robb, are Curtis Belfonte Brent, 37, of the 1700 block of Crownsville Road and William Herbert Mackell, 27, of the 800 block of Betsy Court, Annapolis.
