Police issue warrant for Glen Burnie man

County police issued a warrant Sunday for a 37-year-old Glen Burnie man after his 76-year-old mother-in-law, with whom he lives, accused him of snatching her purse Sunday morning.

The woman, who lives in the 700 block of Seagrove Road, said the purse contained $670 in cash, a Social Security check worth $927, her check book and credit cards.

The woman said she tried to call police, but her phone would not work. She went to her front porch and called for help for 45 minutes until a neighbor called the police. Officers said the phone wire had been pulled from the side of the house.

Police issued the warrant for Steven James Payton, 37.
