Improvement association is seeking new members

The Linthicum-Shipley Improvement Association's annual membership drive is under way.

The association contributes time and money to such community events and projects as the Summer Concert Series at Linthicum Park, area gypsy moth spraying, community tree plantings, the Linthicum Security Patrol, Eagle Scout programs and Linthicum Elementary School. It also represents residents at hearings on issues including light rail, the airport and traffic and animal control.

Members receive a monthly newsletter that lists agendas for meetings and provides updates on community concerns and issues. The group meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Linthicum Elementary School, except in August.

The next general meeting is scheduled for Sept. 8. Dues are $7 a household.

The association is offering a business patron membership for $25. Businesses do not have voting privileges, but receive a certificate of recognition and will be listed twice a year in the association newsletter.

To apply, send a check or money order to the Linthicum-Shipley Improvement Association, P.O. Box 143, Linthicum 21090.
