A $100 per-golfer charge includes greens fees, a cart, refreshments, an awards ceremony and dinner. There will be several prizes, including for longest drive and for best foursome, and door prizes.

Check-in is at 9 a.m. and golfing begins at 10 a.m. For more information, call Suzanne Whitmore, the school's development director, at 766-8614.

Man, 75, is killed when truck hits him

A 75-year-old Glen Burnie man was killed Monday afternoon when a dump truck backed over him as he stood in front of his home.

John Henry Niemann of the 7700 block of Shirley Ave. had gone to get his mail shortly after 3:30 p.m. As he stood by his mailbox, the dump truck driver, who was trying to turn around to leave the dead-end street and take dirt to a work site, backed into Mr. Niemann.

Police said a warning signal that sounds as the truck backs up was working, but Mr. Niemann, who was hard of hearing, did not hear it. Mr. Niemann was pronounced dead at North Arundel Hospital.

Police described the 56-year-old driver as "extremely upset." They said that charges are pending, subject to a review by the JTC state's attorney's office.
