Half-price pool admission proposed for summer's last weeks

The Columbia Association is proposing to the Columbia Council a half-price daily admission rate to 13 outdoor pools for the final weeks of the summer. Four of Columbia's busiest pools would not be included.

The program, for Columbia Association residents only, would begin Monday and last through Labor Day, Sept. 6. The fees would be $3.50 for adults and $2 for children.

The rates would be available at the following pools: Dasher Green, Faulkner Ridge, Hobbit's Glen, Hopewell, Huntington, Jeffer's Hill, Locust Park, Longfellow, Phelps Luck, Running Brook, Steven's Forest, Talbott Springs and Thunder Hill.


* Town Center: 10400 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: Someone pried open the rear door of the Bombay Co. at the Columbia Mall and then attempted to pry open a safe. Nothing was reported stolen, police said.

10400 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: The rear door of the 9 West store in the Mall was pried Monday night.

5600 Vantage Point Road: Police arrested a man seen in several back yards and on the decks of several town homes. Derek Huntington, 23, of the 5300 block of Harpers Farm Road, was charged with breaking and entering, and trespassing. He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
