Cincinnati Reds -- Optioned OF Gary Varsho to Triple-A Indianapolis. Signed OF Tookie Spann and assigned him to Double-A Chattanooga.

Detroit Tigers -- Placed OF Milt Cuyler on the 15-day DL with tendinitis in his right knee; recalled C Rich Rowland from Triple-A Toledo.
