North County library branch is busiest

The busiest checkout desk of all county public libraries in the fiscal year that ended June 30 was the one at the North County branch in Harundale.

Library officials said patrons borrowed books and tapes more than 767,000 times. That is an increase of 5.6 percent over the previous year.

The 14-branch library system reached its highest circulation level during the past year, when checkout desks showed patrons borrowed items a total of 5,167,669 times.

Model search at Harundale Mall

Harundale Mall will be the host of a Model Search from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday in the court area near the fountain.

Anyone between the ages of 4 to 64 is invited to bring two photographs (one close-up and one full-length) to the mall during the following times: ages 4-8, noon to 1 p.m.; 9-13, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.; 14-18, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; 19-25, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and 26-64, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Entrants should arrive during the first half-hour of their designated hour. No late arrivals will be accepted.

Winners will become members of the Harundale Mall Fashion Panel for one year, participating in mall-sponsored fashion events as well as receiving professional model training, and training in makeup application and choreography.
