Benton Avenue to be discussed

County traffic engineers have scheduled a meeting with Linthicum area residents at 7:30 p.m. today in the Linthicum library to discuss speed control on Benton Avenue.

The engineers have proposed placing temporary traffic islands, or median dividers, along the middle of the road to slow speeders.

Tonight, engineers will answer residents' questions about the proposed plan, and listen to suggestions.

The test period for the median dividers could last about six months. After that, residents could meet again to decide if they should be made permanent, revised or removed.

3 Baltimore residents face drug charges

County police arrested two Baltimore men and a woman on drug charges Saturday night after they were spotted driving north in the southbound lanes of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park.

Four officers checking for a possible stolen car in a parking lot at Ritchie Highway and 11th Avenue about 9:30 p.m. saw a Jeep heading north in the southbound lane hit a curb and stop in a lot.

When police approached the driver's side, they saw a plastic bag containing a green leafy material. They searched the Jeep and discovered 17 packages of suspected PCP.

Sandra Lynn Biggs, 32, of the 1600 block of Cuba St.; Robert Melton Jr., 34, of the 4200 block of Bayonne Ave.; and George Psathas, 25, of the 2500 block of James St., all were charged with possession of PCP with intent to distribute.
