Shore woman, passenger injured in Arnold crash

A 32-year-old Eastern Shore woman and a passenger in her Toyota were seriously injured Friday morning when their car collided with a van on rain-slick Ritchie Highway in Arnold, county police said.

Dawn Marie Trice of Easton and her passenger, Sherrie L. Stein, were taken by ambulance to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where they both were listed in good condition last night.

Ms. Trice's 5-year-old son, Justin, was treated at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis and released Saturday.

Police said Ms. Trice was driving a 1981 Toyota north about 11:30 a.m. when she was unable to stop in time to avoid traffic backed up at the intersection with Jones Station Road.

She swerved and collided with a 1986 GMC van that had stopped to let several cars enter Ritchie Highway from a 7-Eleven convenience store, police said.

The driver of the van was not injured, but three passengers were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center. Their injuries were not serious, police said.
