August 08, 1993

A fight over a woman yesterday morning in the Marley section of Glen Burnie ended with three people injured -- one seriously -- and four others charged with assault with intent to murder.

County police were called to a home in the 100 block of Highland Road about 1 a.m. after a report of men fighting in the front yard.

Police said they arrested all four suspects about 1:30 a.m. after officers spotted their two cars in front of another house. Witnesses and victims said the group was arguing about an ex-girlfriend, police said.

The victims, whose addresses were not available yesterday, are:

* Joshua Thorn, 22, who suffered a severe head wound. He was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was in serious condition yesterday.

* Richard Listmann, 26, who suffered a thigh wound. He was in satisfactory condition at North Arundel Hospital.

* Douglas Sutherland, 28, who suffered a cut on his hand. He also was in satisfactory condition at North Arundel Hospital.

The suspects, all from Glen Burnie, were also charged with maiming with malicious injury. Police identified them as Michael Joseph Utz, 19, of the 100 block of Highland Road; Kurt Russell Utz, 21, 100 block of Highland Road; Edward Joseph Schwartz, 17, 300 block of Clover Court; and Scott Allen Gardner, 18, 7600 block of Marcy Drive.
