A motorist was stabbed fatally during an apparent robbery attempt by a group of teen-agers yesterday afternoon as he sat in his car in southeast Baltimore several blocks from Dundalk, city police said.

A 15-year-old boy was being questioned last night in the death of Michael Wald Vogel, 41, of Charlestown in Cecil County.

Mr. Vogel was pronounced dead at Francis Scott Key Medical Center shortly after he was taken there by ambulance.

Homicide detectives said Mr. Vogel was attacked while sitting in the driver's seat of his car in the 1600 block of Malvern St. near Holabird Ave., several blocks from the Baltimore County line.

Several teen-agers pulled him from the car about 12:45 p.m. in an apparent robbery attempt and stabbed him as he lay half in and half out of the car's front door, police said.

Authorities released only sketchy information last night about Mr. Vogel's fatal injuries, and did not say how many times he had been stabbed or where.
