Baltimore City

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1700 block of Homestead St. was in the 1700 block of Abbotston St. Thursday evening when two men, one with a 9mm semiautomatic handgun, robbed him of a gold chain valued at $300.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Someone entered a 1989 Nissan truck parked in the 2500 block of Kirk Ave. Thursday and stole a VCR valued at $200.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- An out-of-town resident was in the 1900 block of N. Howard St. Thursday morning when a gunman robbed him of nearly $200.

ROBBERY TRY: Northern District -- A gunman was in the 200 block of E. 30th St. Thursday morning when he ordered a 44-year-old resident of the 3000 block of Guilford Ave. to give up her purse. The woman cried out, and the gunman fled.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone entered a house in the 300 block of Northfield Place after breaking a pane of glass in a basement door and stole several silver dollars, jewelry and stereo equipment, all valued at more than $2,000.

SHOOTING: Western District -- A resident of the 2500 block of Hollins St. was in the 1100 block of W. Saratoga St. about 3 a.m. Thursday when he was stopped by a man who asked him for change. When the victim refused, the man pulled out a handgun and shot him in the upper back. The gunman escaped, and the victim was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested a man who entered a home in the 1900 block of Penrose Ave. Thursday. No property was reported missing.

ASSAULT/ARREST: Western District -- A resident of the 900 block of N. Calhoun St. was a block from his home Thursday when he was attacked by a man who struck him in the face with a bottle. The victim sustained a laceration of the right eye, and the assailant was arrested.

STOLEN CARS: Western District -- A 1989 Cadillac with Maryland tags ZFP627 was stolen Thursday from the 2700 block of Clifton Ave. A 1986 Cadillac with Maryland tags YMT123 was stolen Thursday from the 2600 block of W. Lafayette Ave.

Baltimore County

ROBBERY: Towson District -- Police were seeking two men who used a hammer to break a display case at the Best Products Co. Inc. store at Towson Marketplace in the 1200 block of Putty Hill Ave. Thursday afternoon. The thieves took a large quantity of diamonds.

CARJACKING: Garrison District -- After picking up one passenger , a driver for Howard Cab picked up a second and was driving in the 6700 block of Chisholm Ave. about 10 p.m. Thursday when the second passenger pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun and ordered the cabbie to stop. The gunman robbed the cabbie and the other passenger of their money and jewelry before forcing them out of the cab and driving off. The abandoned cab was recovered less than two blocks from the robbery scene.
