Truck collision shuts Liberty Rd. for 2 1/2 hours

Part of Liberty Road in Winfield was closed for 2 1/2 hours yesterday afternoon by an accident that sent two truck drivers to Carroll County General Hospital.

State police said a dump truck driven by Harman E. Grimsley of Hanover, Pa., was attempting to make a left turn from Liberty Road onto Old Liberty Road near South Carroll High when he was struck from behind by a dump truck driven by Clyde L. Porter of Clinton.

Police said Mr. Porter was taken to the hospital with cuts and bruises and Mr. Grimsley had unknown injuries.

A hospital spokeswoman said both were being treated in the emergency room yesterday evening.

Police said part of Liberty Road was closed for 2 1/2 hours after the gravel in Mr. Porter's truck spilled onto the highway.

FIRE

* Winfield: Winfield responded to fire alarm on White Rock Road at 10:13 p.m. Tuesday. The unit was out for 15 minutes.

Winfield was dispatched for a call of wires down on Gillis Road at 11:56 p.m. Tuesday. The unit was out for 30 minutes.
