POLICE LOG

* Elkridge: 6600 block of Amberton Drive: A person driving a red tow truck carted off a 1988 blue Oldsmobile Cutlass about noon Tuesday. The car's North Carolina plates are CYN-7226.

* Ellicott City: 9000 block of Baltimore National Pike: A 1992 silver Chevrolet Lumina was stolen between 3 p.m. July 24 and 5 p.m. July 30. The car had no tags.

10000 block of Clarksville Pike: Someone tried to break into the vending hut at Centennial Park between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday.

4600 block of Beechwood Road: Someone entered a rear window between 10 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. Tuesday and stole a rifle.

13300 block of Ridgewood Drive: An intruder entered a parked vehicle outside a garage on Monday or Tuesday and took the garage door opener from inside the vehicle to enter the garage. Once inside the garage, the intruder searched a vehicle parked there and stole the garage opener and an undisclosed amount of cash.

4000 block of Old Columbia Pike: A neighbor called police for an alarm sounding between 4:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at a residence next door. The would-be intruder had tried to enter the residence by breaking a window at the rear door, but set off the alarm.
