Gruver proves mettle at BRRC meet 19-year-old wins 3/4 -mile and 880

Joel Gruver was a two-time winner Wednesday night in the Baltimore Road Runners Club's fourth meet in its Summer Track Series.

Gruver, 19, of Baltimore won the three-quarter-mile event in 3 minutes, 34.3 seconds and the 880-yard run in 2:13.3.

David Webster finished second in the two-mile run and was third in the 880 in the meet at Johns Hopkins.

The fifth -- and concluding -- event in the series will be held Aug. 11 at McDonogh School. Events will include a distance medley, a sprint medley, a 4 x 1, 600 relay and a 4 x 400 relay.
