High grades, leadership earn honor for nurse

Sister Evelyn C. Fitzke of Ellicott City has received the Alpha Eta Honor Society award in Nursing at Essex Community College.

Sister Evelyn graduated from Essex in June with a perfect 4.0 grade point average and was on the Dean's Highest Honors List.

A graduate of Bel Air High School and Mount St. Agnes College, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Fitzke of Bel Air.

The Alpha Eta award is given to students who have show very high academic ability and outstanding leadership.

Sister Evelyn is a nurse at Maryland General Hospital. A Peace Corps volunteer in Malaysia from 1973 to 1978, she also worked in a rural health clinic in Zaire from 1984 to 1987.

She is a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

* Elkridge: 5900 block of Rowanberry Drive: A 1989 Chevy Blazer was stolen Tuesday or Wednesday and recovered in Baltimore Thursday.

* Ellicott City: 4500 block of Rolling Meadows: Someone attempted to steal a 1990 Honda Accord early Wednesday morning.

3200 block of Bethany Lane: About $900 in stereo equipment was stolen from a red Toyota truck Wednesday or Thursday after someone broke the passenger side window.

9100 block of U.S. 40: A 1990 Oldsmobile Royale was stolen from Chatham Mall Wednesday afternoon and recovered in Baltimore County the same day.

9100 block of U.S. 40: Someone stole a turquoise 1987 Buick LeSabre with Maryland tags TXD604 Thursday.

6300 block of Orchard Drive: An undetermined amount of property was taken Wednesday or Friday. There were no signs of forced entry, police said.

10400 block of Springtwig Court: Wooden cabinets were stolen from a home under construction.
