A Glen Burnie man has been charged with robbing a 17-year-old girl of her car Monday outside the Giant grocery store at the intersection of Ritchie Highway and Mountain Road.

Scott Joseph Weber, 35, of the 7800 block of Americana Circle was charged with armed carjacking, robbery with a deadly weapon and driving with a suspended license.

According to the police report, Heather Burmeister of the 8100 block of Holly Road was sitting in a Dodge Shadow while waiting for a friend outside the store at 8:52 p.m. when a man with a knife got into the car.

The girl jumped out of the car, and the man drove off.

Police reported that investigators were told by a woman that she had been arguing with her husband during the evening and that she thought that he might have gone to the grocery store. Police said her description of her husband matched the teen-ager's description of the carjacker. Police said they waited at the man's apartment until 3:30 a.m., when he pulled into the parking lot.

The license plates on the car had been replaced with stolen ones, the police report said. Police reported that they seized three knives when they searched the man.
