BALTIMORE CITY

* SHOOTING: Central District -- A resident of the 600 block of W. Lafayette Ave. was shot several times early yesterday morning when he answered a knock at his door. The victim was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment of gunshot wounds to the groin, face, right leg and knee. The gunman escaped. Police knew of no motive for the shooting.

* ROBBERY: Central District -- Two men, one with a handgun, robbed a resident of the 4600 block of Manordene Road of cash and property, valued at nearly $200, in the 600 block of W. Saratoga St. around 1 a.m. yesterday.

* ASSAULT: Northwestern District -- Police were seeking a man who pointed a handgun at a resident of the 3800 block of Lucille Ave. during an incident in the 3500 block of Reisterstown Road Tuesday and threatened to shoot him.

* THEFT: Northwestern District -- Hand and power tools, valued at more than $300, were stolen Tuesday afternoon from a construction company's truck parked in the 3900 block of Liberty Heights Ave.

* THEFT: Western District -- Property of unknown value was stolen Tuesday from a car parked in the 2300 block of Liberty Heights Ave.

* ASSAULT: Western District -- A resident of the 200 block of N. Bruce St. was in the 1700 block of W. Lexington St. Tuesday when he was attacked by two men who struck him several times with a baseball bat.

* THEFT: Western District -- Someone entered a vehicle owned by J&K Construction in the 9300 block of Annapolis Road while it was parked in the 1600 block of Mosher St. Tuesday and stole property valued at more than $1,000.

* THEFT: Western District -- Between May 30 and June 9, someone withdrew more than $600 from the ATM account of a resident of the 1300 block of N. Fulton Ave. The theft of the card and withdrawal of the money was reported Tuesday.

* THEFT: Western District -- Someone entered a Pepsi truck parked in the 2000 block of N. Fulton Ave. Tuesday and stole seven cases of soft drinks valued at nearly $100.

* THEFT: Western District -- Someone stole an ATM card from a resident of the 1000 block of N. Carey St. and withdrew $40 from the account Tuesday.

ASSAULT/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested a man Tuesday afternoon after he fired a shot at a resident of the 700 block of N. Fulton Ave. during an incident near the victim's home. The victim was not injured.

* BURGLARY/ARREST: Northern District -- Police arrested a man who entered a house in the 900 block of Druid Park Drive Tuesday and stole a VCR, video game and stereo equipment, valued at nearly $600. The man was identified by someone who '' saw him leaving the house. The property was recovered.

* ROBBERY: Northern District -- A resident of the 300 block of E. Lorraine Ave. was seated in her car a block from her home Tuesday when a gunman demanded money. The woman gave her purse to the man, who withdrew $2 and returned the purse.

* ROBBERY TRY: Northern District -- A man from the 13600 block of Blenheim Road in Baltimore County and a woman from the 4500 block of Northwood Drive were seated in a car parked at the Crown service station in the 5100 block of York Road #F Tuesday when a man exited a car parked nearby and demanded their money at gunpoint. When the couple refused, the man got back into his car and drove off.

* ROBBERY: Northern District -- A gunman robbed a resident of (( the 500 block of Richwood Ave. of his 1989 Ford in the 5200 block of Midwood Ave. Tuesday.

* ROBBERY: Northern District -- Two men, one with a handgun, robbed a resident of the 4400 block of Craddock Ave. of $35 in the 4400 block of St. George's Ave. Tuesday morning after asking him for directions.

* BURGLARY: Northern District -- Property valued at nearly $300 was stolen from a house in the 4100 block of St. Paul St. Tuesday.

BALTIMORE COUNTY

* PURSE SNATCH: White Marsh District -- A 77-year-old resident of the 1300 block of Rosewick Ave. was walking in the 1700 block of Chesaco Ave. Tuesday evening when a man stole her purse containing cash and property valued at $80. The thief was seen driving toward the city in a small red car.
