2 men charged in shooting, assault case

One man was charged with attempted murder and another man was charged with assaulting his girlfriend during a domestic dispute on Old Elkridge Landing Road in Linthicum Monday.

Herman L. Franklin Jr., 31, of the 200 block of Evans St. in Glen Burnie was charged with assault with intent to murder. Herbert W. Hall, 32, of the 5700 block of Railroad Ave. in Elkridge was charged with battery, police said.

According to the police report, Mr. Hall was arguing with his girlfriend at 6 p.m. when he also began arguing with Mr. Franklin.

Mr. Hall walked to a neighbor's home and returned with William Thomas, who brought along a 12-gauge shotgun. Mr. Franklin approached them with a brick in hand, the police report said, and was told several times by Mr. Thomas to put it down, but he LTC refused. Mr. Thomas fired one shot at Mr. Franklin's leg, the police report said.

Mr. Franklin was treated at North Arundel Hospital and released. Mr. Thomas was not charged.


Ferndale: A brown 1979 Chevrolet Caprice was stolen Tuesday from the parking lot of the Ferndale Amoco in the 7200 block of B&A Blvd., state police reported. The car had no license plates.
