State police seek motorist accused of fleeing after crash

State police were still looking yesterday for a man accused of fleeing on foot, taking his license tags with him but leaving behind his car after an accident Friday night on Littlestown Pike.

State police reported that a 1981 Chevrolet Z28 turned into the path of a motorcycle traveling north on Route 97 near Murkle Road.

The motorcyclist, Charles A. Harman of the 3600 block of Arters Mill Road in Westminster, was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after the collision at 5:40 p.m. Friday. Mr. Harman, 42, was discharged Saturday.

Witnesses told state police the driver of the Z28 took the tags off the car and fled on foot after the accident.

On Saturday, a man called state police, gave his name and said he was the driver and would turn himself in. But he never showed up.

Tfc. Darin Wagner, who is investigating the accident, said yesterday afternoon that he has a suspect in mind and believes the man lives near Littlestown, Pa. He said the man will face charges when he is found.
