DEATHS ELSEWHERE

July 23, 1993

Hank Kersting, 88, the former Associated Press bureau chief whose career ranged from editing an underground anti-Nazi newsletter to creating the AP's Dutch language service, died Wednesday in an Amsterdam, Netherlands, nursing home. He had been in ill health since suffering a stroke earlier this year. As bureau chief for more than a quarter-century, he oversaw the AP's rapid postwar expansion in the Netherlands and began its Dutch report.
