Bank earnings rise for first half of 1993

Taneytown Bank and Trust reported a net income of $987,998, or $1.51 per share, for the first six months of 1993.

During the same period in 1992, the bank had earnings of $981,641, or 62 cents per share.

Company officials attributed this year's performance to interest income, as loans grew approximately 17 percent from June 30, 1992. The bank also received more income from servicing and selling residential mortgages during this period.

As of June 30, the bank's assets totaled $181,742,852.

Stockholders of record as of June 25 received a second-quarter dividend of 11 cents on July 13.

American Properties appoints manager

American Properties Inc., the Howard County real estate development firm for Warfield's Way in Eldersburg, has appointed Leslie Lawrence Heishman as marketing manager for the company's new homes division.

Life Underwriters wins service award

The Carroll County Association of Life Underwriters was recently presented with a Kurt Andrews Community Service Award by the Maryland State Association of Life Underwriters in recognition of its commitment to community service.
